what makes a pet allergen free?
My dad likes to call our hypoallergenic cat “antibacterial,” but in reality he just has less dander.
Dander is dead skin cells that animals shed, that is also a common allergen for us humans. If your pet is hypoallergenic, it is believed that they produce less of this dander, although no animal is ever completely free of it.
The most common domestic animal that people are allergic to is cats, and that is because they can produce an allergen that is more lightweight, allowing it to float in the air rather than just fall to the floor or stick to surfaces.
So technically, no animal is ever fully allergen free, but some are considered less likely to be!
